The Richmond Zine Fest is coming…

On October 8th at the Gay Community Center of Richmond (1407 Sherwood Avenue) the Zine Fest will be coming to Richmond. For those of you that came out last year we can’t wait to see y’all again, and to those that have never heard of us before: well, this is your chance.

Stay tuned as we update our web page with everything you need to know about this year’s Zine Fest, and provide opportunities for you to get involved as bring affordable self-published material to the RVA!

A Post-event Post: Zine Reading @ Sprout

Thanks to everyone who came out to support Richmond Zine Fest on Thursday. A special thanks goes to Sprout for hosting the event, our emcee Danny, and everyone who bravely jumped on stage: Dixon, Alan Webb, Mo, Elizabeth Albrecht, Safiya, Liz Canfield, Eric Scott, and Cat. It was an awesome night, and we hope attendees enjoyed it as much as we did!

Richmond Zine Fest will be held Oct. 8, 2011 at the Gay Community Center of Richmond. Check back for more details about the Fest and other related events this summer as we raise funds to keep tabling fees low.

What: Zine Reading and Fundraiser for the Richmond Zine Fest!

When: Thursday, May 12 from 10:00 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Where: Sprout, 1 N. Morris, Richmond, VA

Join the organizers of the Richmond Zine Fest (coming to you for the 5th consecutive year in October of 2011) for a night of sharing, laughing, and inspiration.

Sprout is graciously hosting this event, and will be open with beverages and snacks for sale.

We are having people read from their zines, because last year’s Zine Reading Potluck before the Zine fest was so much fun!
The Richmond Zine Fest is excited about the growing Zine Community in RVA.

We are looking for a variety of readers- from poems, to political, to anecdotal or personal, to whatever you have got. We will update this event with a list of confirmed readers over the coming week. Please email the zine fest if you want to read at:

So please come and join us at Sprout to hear 10-15 awesome Richmond Zinesters read to you from their zines.

You will have plenty of time between this reading and the Zine Fest to get pumped to write your own zines!

Bring some money to donate to the Richmond Zine Fest if you can- we will have some zine grab bags and other swag for sale, as well as a donation jar. We have to raise money to rent the space where we hold the zine fest.
